We were so gratified to read the review of Domaine Hudson in The News Journal and Delawareonline this past Sunday, Nov. 9. (http://www.delawareonline.com/story/secondhelpings/2014/11/07/taste-domaine-hudson-is-a-must-visit-restaurant/18649197/) Pardon our lack of modesty as we excerpt some passages that we loved:
“Domaine Hudson is one of Delaware’s must-visit restaurants, especially for wine lovers and those who appreciate impeccable service.”
“Judging by recent and truly remarkable dining experiences, the talented [Chef] Kalup is easily turning out some of the finest and most elegant food in Wilmington, if not the state.”
“Fledgling owners Mike and Beth Ross – they bought the restaurant three years ago – vowed to continue the excellent culinary tradition started there in 2005. They’ve done one better: They might now be surpassing it.”
We have worked hard to make dining at Domaine Hudson the experience that we always want ourselves when we go out to dinner. I have described our learning curve in the restaurant industry as not just steep but truly vertical.
It finally has come together with a wonderful staff that works well together in the front of the house headed up by a truly loyal friend in Javier Matamoros. We have a tremendously fastidious, hardworking, talented and dedicated no-nonsense kitchen with Dwain Kalup and Brent Chellew who really work well together and create a positive atmosphere. We have wonderful help in redesigning the restaurant with the talented Rose Giroso who continues to be a great supporter. We have learned so much from our marketing group at Strongpoint Marketing that have been with us since day one.
And there is the endless energy that my up-at-4am-tireless husband dedicates to making this dream succeed—adding it to the long list of accomplishments in his life.
I could go on and on mentioning people who have been important in our education as restauranteurs and have helped make this restaurant what it is now. A special thanks to everyone who has been there with us as a die-hard supporter for these years, through every learning moment and tough decision. It is this support that has allowed this restaurant to become what it is now. It has been great fun and we look forward to the years to come.
